Kajabi vs. Groove: No Fluff Comparison 2021
In this blog post we compare two of the most popular sales funnel building tools out there: GrooveFunnels vs. Kajabi.
Whether GrooveFunnels or Kajabi is better is a question of opinion.
We will help you decide which is better for your needs in this software comparison.
Is it GrooveFunnels, or is it Kajabi? Well, that depends on your needs. Both are fantastic tools with great features, but there other factors you need to keep in mind before you decide which sales funnel builder is the best fit for your company.
Both GrooveFunnels and Kajabi are two fantastic digital marketing tools with a fair amount of overlap in terms of their features and what you can accomplish with them.
If you haven’t personally used both products, it’s easy to get confused and not know which one to get (especially if you don’t know about the surprising winner).
That’s why I thought I should put together a thorough comparison and put the GrooveFunnels vs. Kajabi dilemma to rest once and for all.
However, if you don’t have the time to read the entire post, here’s the gist of it:
I like Kajabi (and I have bought many programs from people that use Kajabi). It’s one of the best services on the market if all you’re looking to do is build and manage a membership website or platform.
But — and this is a “But” with a capital B — Kajabi is NOT the best option if you need an all-round solution to run all aspects of your online business, from A/B split-testing and in-depth performance analytics to a built-in helpdesk and more.
If that’s what you want, GrooveFunnels will have all that and much more and you will hardly find an offer where you get more bang for your buck.
However, there is a 3rd solution you need to be aware of called Kartra. (more about that later).
First, let’s compare the key features and pricing plans of the two products so you can decide for yourself.
What Is Kajabi?
Kajabi is a Kartra-like eCommerce and marketing software. With it, you can build websites and landing pages, run sales campaigns, manage members and customers, and much more.
However, unlike Kartra and GrooveFunnels, which can be used to sell physical as well as digital products, Kajabi is optimized for e-courses, coaching programs, and membership sites. That makes it a great choice for infopreneurs. Other types of marketers, however, may find the software lacking in certain features. We’ll discuss these in a bit.
What Is GrooveFunnels?
Unlike Kajabi, GrooveFunnels is truly a one-stop-shop software package for digital marketers.
A brainchild of the legendary entrepreneur, marketer, and software developer Mike Filsaime and his team at Groove Digital, GrooveFunnels packs in all the tools you need to run an online business. Recently they even launch their sister company Groove.ai. That means you can use it to sell physical and digital goods as well as services, subscriptions, memberships, and information products.
GrooveFunnels Is in for a Name Change
Before we move on, I just wanted to point out that GrooveFunnels will be renamed to Groove later this year. So, if you hear or read someone referring to “Groove,” know that they are talking about good old GrooveFunnels.
But why the name change?
Well, the people at Groove Digital figured that Groove is not only easier to type, pronounce, and memorize, but it also better reflects the nature of the product. You see, GrooveFunnels is about so much more than merely building sales funnels.
If all you want is to create sales funnels, sure, knock yourself out — but you’d be much better off making full use of Groove’s functionality, from building web pages and entire websites to sending high-converting email blasts, creating webinars and videos, and much, much more.
Plus, “GrooveFunnels” admittedly sounds a lot like ClickFunnels, which some consumers found confusing because Groove offers so much more.
Alright, now that we’ve got the name change out of the way, let’s take a look at how the main features of Kajabi and GrooveFunnels stack up against each other.
GrooveFunnels vs. Kajabi: Features Comparison
1. Page and Website Builder
Kajabi’s Page Builder
The Good
With Kajabi, you can create and customize various web pages using an intuitive drag-and-drop editor. It’s easy to use and doesn’t require coding or web design experience.
One thing I quite like about Kajabi’s page builder is that the interface is relatively uncluttered. On the left-hand side of the screen, you can see the current page sections and the settings options (fonts, colors, text size, etc.). A live preview of the new page is displayed on the right-hand side for easy reference.
Speaking of page sections, you can choose from 40+ pre-built section templates, including:
● Hero sections with a background video or image
● Multi-column layouts
● Pricing tables
● Course listicles
● Opt-in forms
● Countdown timers
● Blog post preview section
All page sections and elements can be customized to your liking by changing the text and colors, adding animations and other interactive features, and more.
Crucially, Kajabi’s page builder is 100% mobile responsive.
Here’s why that matters. I don’t know if you are aware, but Google will now only use the mobile version of any given page for ranking as well as indexing purposes.
Simply put, if a page isn’t optimized for mobile viewing, you can forget about ranking anywhere near page one in the search results. This is what’s known as mobile-first indexing.
The Bad
Now, what I don’t like about Kajabi’s page builder is that you don’t get nearly quite as many built-in page templates and customization options compared to GrooveFunnels or even Kartra.
And if you are looking to build an entire website, you can only choose between six ready-made website themes. I actually think all six are beautifully designed, but if you are looking for variety or a more unique look, you might be in for a disappointment — or you’d have to create a new theme from scratch yourself.
You also don’t get a landing page marketplace and A/B split-testing.
Now, you may not care about buying fancy templates from other marketers. If you prefer a simple, no-frills interface, Kajabi’s built-in options will probably work just fine for you.
However, you really should care about A/B split-testing. It allows you to compare the performance of different page variations in real time — and see which one brings in the highest number of leads and/or conversions.
GroovePages
GroovePages is GrooveFunnels’ built-in site, page, and funnel builder. In some ways, it’s similar to Kajabi’s page builder.
For starters, GroovePages is fully compliant with mobile-first indexing and features an easy-to-use drag-and-drop editor that doesn’t require prior coding or web design experience.
You also get:
● Expertly designed landing page and funnel templates
● Various content blocks
● Interactive page elements (pop-ups, progress bars, countdown timers, and more)
● Royalty-free images
Now, here’s where things start to get different — and GroovePages proves that it really is in a league of its own.
Customization Options
With GroovePages, you get a LOT more customization options than with Kajabi’s page builder. If having every element of your website on-brand is important for you, this is something to keep in mind.
Funnel Marketplace
If you can’t find what you’re looking for among GroovePages’ built-in templates, you can always head to the funnel marketplace and purchase something truly unique, created by another user. You can also make a side income selling your own designs!
A/B Split Testing
Unlike Kajabi, GroovePages will offer A/B split testing. I simply can’t state the importance of this feature enough. After all, a landing page or sales funnel has only one goal: to sell. Why waste time, money, and effort on building and using pages if you aren’t sure they can actually do the job?
Fast Loading Times
I saved the best for last. As far as I’m concerned, the one feature that makes GroovePages stand out from all its competitors is the lightning-fast loading speed.
Do you know what Vue.js is? It’s a progressive JavaScript framework that GroovePages uses to build your pages and sales funnels. With Vue.js, the code is stored on the browser. As a result, the system doesn’t send requests to a third-party database whenever it’s trying to load a page or even a page element.
What does that mean for you?
Thanks to this innovative technology, you can create pages, funnels, and whole websites much more quickly and easily than ever before.
Also, everything will load super-fast. Not only that, but GroovePages is the fastest page and funnel builder right now.
And as we all know, fast loading times have been proven to greatly enhance user experience and boost conversions. In fact, that can make or break a website: a delay of a mere second causes customer satisfaction to drop by 16%, and one in four visitors will abandon a site if it takes longer than four seconds to load!
Just so you can get the full picture here, it’s worth noting that most of GrooveFunnels’ competitors use an alternative technology called Bootstrap. Originally developed by Twitter, it is now over a decade old and seriously dated — what is known as “legacy software.”
2. eCommerce Platform
Kajabi
With Kajabi, you’ll get the most essential eCommerce tools, including:
● Order forms
● Easy checkout
● Support for international currencies
● Multi-payment processing
● Abandoned cart follow-up
● Subscriptions and different-tier payment plans
● Multiple price points
● One-click upsells
● Coupons and free trials
That’s all great, but the problem with Kajabi is that, while you can use it to sell physical products, the platform is mainly optimized for e-courses and other digital products.
Just consider this: Kajabi’s Basic Plan only allows you to market up to three different products. That doesn’t give you a lot of wiggle room if you are selling physical goods.
Unfortunately, your options don’t get much better if you upgrade to a higher-priced plan. Kajabi’s most popular subscription tier — the Growth Plan — supports a maximum of fifteen products. Again, that’s plenty if you are in the business of selling services or knowledge but not necessarily physical goods.
With the Pro Plan, you can sell up to one hundred products — but you will be charged a minimum of $319 USD per month, which I think is quite pricey.
Last but not least, Kajabi doesn’t provide detailed sales and transaction analytics.
GrooveSell
On to GrooveSell, GrooveFunnels’ eCommerce, sales, and affiliate app.
With GrooveSell, you can easily sell physical goods as well as digital products, services, and subscriptions.
GrooveSell also hosts GrooveAffiliate, which packs in one-click upsells, viral marketing tools, detailed reporting and analytics, and pretty much everything else you need to set up and manage an affiliate business online.
Another thing to keep in mind is that GrooveSell will soon introduce a built-in marketplace (think ClickBank). Once this feature becomes available, you will be able to sell your products to other GrooveSell users and gain even more exposure (and potential customers).

3. Email Service
Email matters — a lot. This much-quoted study by McKinsey found that email marketing brought almost forty times more new customers than Facebook and Twitter combined.
That’s why you want to make sure you have a solid:
● Email service provider
● Email customer relationship management (CRM) tool
● In-depth email analytics
In this area, too, GrooveFunnels outperforms Kajabi.
Kajabi Email
Kajabi’s email service offers the following features:
● Email editor
● Email personalization
● Automated sequences
● Lead importation
● Broadcasts
● Message open tracking
● Native email automation
● Segmentation
● Automated follow-up and re-engagement
You also get to send unlimited marketing emails regardless of the pricing plan.
Here’s what you don’t get:
● Email templates
● Lead scoring
● List cleaning
● SMS sequences
● Expiring tags
● Email split testing
You also get limited click-through rate tracking, and you can’t set in advance the date on which you want an email campaign to go out.
GrooveMail
If you have worked with ClickFunnels’ Actionetics or ActiveCampagin in the past, that should give you an idea of what GrooveMail is — only combined in a single, integrated system.
You get an email service provider as well as a state-of-the-art email marketing CRM.
However, if you want to stick with your current email provider while still enjoying all other GrooveFunnels features, you absolutely can. Groove Digital is working hard on ensuring that GrooveFunnels will be compatible with 15+ of the world’s most popular email providers. That means you will soon be able to integrate all GrooveFunnels apps with your extant email marketing CRM.
With that being said, GrooveMail is definitely worth a try. With it, you can:
● Build email campaigns
● Send HTML emails
● Tag and segment your leads
● Send personalized automated emails and scheduled follow-ups
● Import leads into your campaigns individually or in bulk via a .csv file
● Use voice and text SMS broadcasting
But more importantly, GrooveMail comes with top-notch email analytics, including both open and click-through rates.
4. Helpdesk
Kajabi
Okay, this one’s going to be rather short (but not very sweet, I’m afraid): Kajabi does not come with a built-in helpdesk — much like Teachable.
Now, that’s a major drawback. You simply cannot run an online business without a helpdesk or some form of customer support. I mean, you can certainly try, but you won’t get away with it for too long.
You need to be able to resolve your customers’ issues and answer their questions as quickly as possible. Ideally, you want to do that in real-time. That’s how you will keep them happy — and happy customers become returning customers. Not to mention that nurturing existing customers is five times cheaper than attracting new ones, and boosting retention rates by a mere 5% can increase your profits by a whopping 95%!
All that means that you’d have to either:
● Go and purchase third-party helpdesk software; or
● Handle customer support queries manually
You really don’t need me telling you that the first option will be an unnecessary strain on your budget, and the second will just make you crazy.
My advice? Invest in a software solution with a built-in, automated helpdesk!
GrooveDesk
GrooveDesk is due for release in the 2nd quarter of 2021 — so pretty soon. By then, we should have more information on GrooveFunnels’ built-in helpdesk platform. However, what we do know so far is that, as soon as a customer submits a ticket, you will be able to see what products they have bought from you and process a refund directly from the helpdesk.
5. Other Features
I have the suspicion that if I were to go into all other Kajabi and GrooveFunnels features here, I’d lose most of my readers — and I really don’t want that to happen, as we still haven’t discussed the most critical part: the pricing plans!

Want to know my final verdict on this one?
Here it goes: I like Kajabi and think it is a good piece of software. It’s been around for quite some time now, has a good track record, and is largely glitch-free and has a great membership area.
However if you are an infopreneur, an even better alternative to Kajabi is Kartra.
With that being said, my preferences lie with GrooveFunnels. It’s not 100% there yet but if you build your business for the longterm you will never get a better return on your investment.
Not only is it a lot more affordable (at least for the time being), but it’s also more flexible, offers more features, can be used to sell physical products, and has some of the fastest loading speeds in the industry.
It’s really not an exaggeration to say that GrooveFunnels is the future of digital marketing.
